/ How we work

1. Free evaluation

Share your project with us, either by describing it or sending materials. We will review it in detail and provide an evaluation. This is completely free and comes with no obligation.

2. Quote and schedule

Based on the evaluation, we define an execution plan with its associated budget and timeline. We work efficiently, and in many cases your port can be completed in under four months.

3. Full, end to end porting

We implement all the features and technical work required for the game to run properly on each target platform. We can handle the entire process. You can be as involved as you want throughout development.

4. Certification and final delivery

We submit the final builds for certification and address any issues that arise until approval is achieved.

5. Post launch support

After release, we stay available and fix any porting related issues that may appear at no additional cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the evaluation really completely free?
Yes. We do not charge anything for evaluating your project. You can send as much material as you want, and we will propose a budget and an estimated schedule. The more information you provide, the more accurate and precise the estimate can be.
Do I need to send you the project source code for the evaluation?
It is not strictly required, but it is highly recommended. Having access to the source code helps us assess technical risk and scope more accurately, which usually results in a tighter and more reliable estimate.
What development timelines do you typically work with?
We aim to be efficient while maintaining high quality standards. In many cases, development takes around three to four months, but the exact timeline depends entirely on the scope and complexity of the project. Smaller projects can take roughly two months, while very large or technically demanding projects can take up to a year.
When do I need to pay?
We adapt to each project and client needs. In most cases, we work with a 30 percent upfront payment and a 70 percent payment at the end of the project, once the game has been certified on all agreed platforms. For longer projects, we can also structure payments around internal milestones.
When do you start working once the services have been contracted?
We understand that development time and resources are often limited, and that project schedules are highly sensitive. For this reason, our objective is to start working as soon as the scope, milestones, and timeline are agreed and the contract has been signed. This ensures a smooth kickoff, clear alignment from the start, and the ability to move forward without unnecessary delays.
Who manages platform services and backend configuration?
We can manage it. Once you grant the required permissions, we can handle the necessary setup and configuration across the relevant portals. This includes environments such as DevNet, Partner Center, and the Nintendo Developer Portal, which we use on a daily basis.
Who handles certification?
We can handle certification as well. We only need the permissions required to submit builds and manage the certification process. If you prefer, you can leave the full submission workflow in our hands.
What if I find a bug on consoles after release?
If the issue occurs only on the platforms we worked on, we will treat it as our responsibility and fix it through a patch at no additional cost.
What if I want general fixes or additional content patches after release?
In that case, we would prepare a separate quote for the patch. Console patching is more complex than on PC, and in many cases it may require resubmission for certification, which affects both scope and timeline.
Which development kits do you have?
We have access to most major platforms, including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam Deck, Meta Quest 2 and 3, and PS VR2. If you have a specific platform in mind, there is a very high chance we can support it.
Do you offer QA services?
We ensure the correct functionality of the game across the agreed platforms and versions. However, we do not operate a dedicated in house QA department. If your project requires a broader or more exhaustive QA process, we recommend working with a specialized QA partner. When needed, we can introduce trusted collaborators so you can keep the workflow efficient and reliable.
Why does Making Port only work with Unreal Engine?
At Making Port, we have specialized in Unreal Engine since the beginning. While we can also support projects built with other technologies such as Unity, our priority is to focus on the engine where we have developed the deepest expertise over nearly a decade. This specialization allows us to deliver more consistent results, stronger optimization, and a higher level of technical reliability. We see it as a matter of quality, clarity, and professional accountability.
Do you work with VR and AR projects?
We recognize the growing relevance of virtual reality and augmented reality, and we understand the technical and production challenges that these platforms introduce. We have experience working with VR in both video games and architecture related applications. While most of our track record is on traditional platforms, we apply the same engineering standards and performance mindset to VR and AR projects, ensuring the same level of efficiency and reliability.
How you we guarantee confidentiality?
Confidentiality is essential in the video game industry, where leaks can compromise announcements, affect public perception, and impact release plans. At Making Port, we treat confidentiality as a core responsibility. Every project is covered by strict confidentiality clauses, supported by internal procedures designed to reduce risk and protect sensitive information. We also provide confidentiality training within the team to reinforce best practices and maintain a consistent standard. As a result, your project remains private and is only shared when you decide it should be.
